Alyssa Martin, PhD
Assistant Director of Assessment, Drexel CASTLE
Alyssa Martin received her Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University. Her research focused on the development of a knitted fabric display using light emitting yarns that can be controlled with electric fields. This structure has the potential to integrate moving text, images and videos into functional fabrics, including clothing, for communication and entertainment purposes. Alyssa was awarded the NSF GRFP fellowship in 2012 and also participated in the NSF STEM K-12 program. As part of the STEM K-12 program, Alyssa conducted educational research aimed at understanding if and how demographics play a role in student attitudes towards project-based robotics curriculum. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D she participated in the Engineers As Global Leaders for Energy Sustainability (EAGLES) dual degree study abroad program and received a M.S in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and a M.S from Politecnico Di Milano in Materials Engineering. She also has a B.S in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.
As the assistant director of assessment at CASTLE, Alyssa will support CASTLE’s mission through identification, collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to university student enrollment, retention, and graduation.
